Our Location

336 13th Street formerly housed the June Conn School of Dance, the forerunner to the Ashland Regional Dance Theater. The non-profit AYB and the for-profit ARDT, which share a symbiotic relationship, came full circle in moving back to this location from East Ashland on Jan. 19, 2012 after an extensive capital campaign. That increased the space available for dance from 5,000 square feet to 11,000.

AYB has six studios. The ARDT maintains the building and rents it from the AYB. ARDT staff members often assume instructional roles within the company and choreograph, as well as visiting master teachers and choreographers. This building also houses birthday parties, bridal showers and business meetings, among other events.

Nutcracker Ballet – Ashland, KY

Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker is coming to Ashland and the company is looking for local ballet students ages 6 to 18 years for children’s roles. Local youth can audition to be Party Children, Small Mice, Snowflakes, Russian Snow Maidens and more roles through Moscow Ballet’s community engagement “Dance with Us” program. Auditions are led by a Moscow Ballet company member/pedagogue in each performance city this fall. The “Dance with Us” program has brought over 100,000 aspiring ballerinas and ballerinos on stage with the professionals over the past 27 years. Auditions are free (although there may be a casting fee and a minimal rehearsal fee), hand-sewn costumes are provided, and dress rehearsal is on stage with the Russian company the day of the performance.
